Leonardo's Gioconda celebrates her 500th birthday. For this
important occasion, she – that is, a three-dimensional terracotta
rendition by artisans at Punto Cotto – will be rightfully dressed
up like a diva, with vestments by world-class Italian fashion gurus
and designers. After the acclaimed debut of the Monna Lisa Collection in
Florence within the "Made in Etiquette" exhibit, Gioconda is ready to
embark on an epic journey. In her suitcase there will be garments by Krizia,
Fiorucci, Missoni and designer Alessandro Mendini. An
incomparable work of art and an undisputed icon of Italian refinement,
Gioconda is well placed within "Scrigno Tesori d'Italia".
This
event (March 10-12) brings together a selection of valuable handicrafts,
representing Italian know-how and traditions in the arts and crafts,
unaffected by the passing of time. Punto Cotto – a Tuscan arts
terracotta workshop which stands for the excellence of Made in Italy –
wanted to give a substantial contribution to the celebration of Italy's
glorious past through a contemporary creative project.
The Monna
Lisa Collection, a project curated by architect Laura Villani, is about
to land its second date. However, this is just the start of larger itinerant
exhibit promoting Made in Italy all over the world, featuring other
artists coming from different fields (fashion, music, cinema and
design). Indeed, museums worldwide – from New York to Montecarlo, from
Cairo to New Dehli – are getting ready to celebrate Gioconda's 500th
birthday.
Throughout, Etiquette is available to all attending.
The
Monna Lisa Collection will be open to the public during "Scrigno Tesori
d'Italia" in Spazio Etoile (Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina, 41, Rome) from
Friday, March 10th to Sunday, March 12th, between 10 am and 7 pm.
Entrance: 5,00 €. For more information, call +39 06/68136598 or contact
