| Monumental art and elegant objects created in the Massimo Del Chiaro Art Foundry of Pietrasanta, according to the ancient lost wax technique |
Running through the list of Massimo Del Chiaro's collaborations is like consulting a book of contemporary art history: Apple, Arman, Beuys, Berti, Bleifeld, Botero, Brixel, Cardenas, Cascella, Chia, Cucchi, De Dominicis, De Henriquez, De Kooning, Fazzini, Finotti, Flanagan, German?, Greco, Hartung, Liberatore, Lipchitz, Manz?, Mitoraj, Moore, Paladino, Parri, Theimer, Tommasi, Vangi, Not Vital?
Many of the great bronze artwork that was meant for adorning squares and museums of major European and American cities in the last fifty years was born precisely in the Del Chiaro Foundry. Created one by one according to the ancient lost wax technique here in Pietrasanta, the cradle of Tuscan sculpture. And it is precisely Pietrasanta the birthplace of the strong, prancing horse that ended up in Maranello, to symbolize the Ferrari myth. From its three-meters height, the emblem of countless sporting successes welcomes the visitors of the Ferrari Gallery, featuring the trophies of speed and Italian car-racing genius. ?We are proud of cooperating with Ferrari, just like we do with the best international sculptors?, they use to say at Del Chiaro's.
This is the way they are. Like all great artisans: modest and perfect masters of their work, which they put at the service of their clients with enthusiasm. Be it Ferrari or Botero, world-famous architects and designers, art lovers or simply people with good taste who just wish to see one of their ideas or inspirations materialize out of bronze. Monumental art is not all what Massimo Del Chiaro makes. On the contrary. He has dozens of classical and nineteenth-century models (busts, statuettes) that he reproduces in all sizes.
Above all, he is capable of interpreting the needs of those who are not fond of serialized creations, but do instead look for the added value of manual dexterity, uniqueness, a noble metal tradition like the one of bronze. ?We often make tables, lamps, small decorations for villas, gardens and palaces?, says Del Chiaro. Elegant objects like the lamp displayed in the picture on the side (a work of the sculptor Giancarlo Buratti), in limited numbers, designed to fit into a classy renovation. There are indeed no boundaries. A sketch, an input is all Del Chiaro needs. He then develops the drawing, makes the model and suggests the finishing. Bronze is definitely his speciality.
