The Villa S. Andrea farm extends over 1300 acres of Chianti Classico territory in Tuscany, central Italy. At the heart of the farm is the ancient hamlet of Fabbrica; here the main Villa, the church of S. Andrea, the wine cellars and the oil press are all located. All over the farm the slopes with the best exposure to the sun have been given over to the cultivation of vines. Villa S. Andrea also has 160 hectares of olives, while cereals are cultivated in the valleys and the flat lands and are irrigated with water from two large reservoirs. The farm produces Chianti Classico wines, IGT wines, extra-virgin and DOP olive oil, Grappa and Vinsanto. The farm offers accommodation in either Bed & Breakfast rooms in the hamlet itself, or in apartments in one of the three farmhouses immersed in the countryside.
Villa S. Andrea offers the possibility of spending a dream holiday in one of its three farmhouses - Perticato, Montelodoli or Villa Zobi. The farmhouses have been lovingly restored and converted into apartments, each with characteristic oak beam ceilings and terracotta-tiled floors. They are all furnished with traditional Tuscan rustic pieces and are fully equipped with modern comforts. |
The Villa S. Andrea estate produces high quality wines, respecting the characteristics of the Chianti Classico "Terroir". The major part of the farm's vineyards are dedicated to the Sangiovese vine, which expresses its decisive, elegant and intense character in an outstanding and authentic wine, reflecting the historic traditions of Tuscany. It is possible to taste: Chianti Classico DOCG wine, IGT wine, Vinsanto DOC, Grappa Extra virgin and DOP olive oil.
The terroir of the region is ideally suited for the Sangiovese grape, the primary grape in Tuscany's Chianti Classico wines. Most of the vineyards on the farm are reserved for this grape, and our wines have an intense yet elegant flavour typical of the traditional wines of Tuscany.
The olive press on the farm processes the olives that come from the 10.000 olive trees, to produce the farm's delicious extra virgin olive oil. This fruity and assertive olive oil has the characteristic flavour of olive oil produced in the region.
Villa S. Andrea's grappa is distilled using the skins and pips that are left over from the Chianti Classico wine production.
Villa S. Andrea's vinsanto is obtained from Malvasia, Trebbiano and rare St. Colombano grapes. The wine itself is produced using age-old traditional methods ? the grapes are hung up to dry dried for several months before being pressed and the resulting must is left to ferment in small wood casks known as "caratelli". Vinsanto has always been considered to be the wine of friendship and hospitality. It can be served any time of day, although most people prefer it at the end of a meal to accompany fresh cheese or dry biscuits.
